Microsoft Is Giving Away Free USB Memory-sticks

Yes you read correctly. First it was free SP2 CDs, then it was free 8DVD boxes containing Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 .NET Beta. Now they're giving away USB Memory-sticks that contain information on windows desktop licensing. It's truly awesome, I can't wait till I get mine. I might even read the info that is on them. But I'm thinking - what's next? Free high-definition monitors? That would be so cool. I guess we'll have to live and see.

Sony PlayStation 3 might not be delayed

There are some researches suggesting that the Sony PlayStation 3 won't be delayed for 2007. The big price still remains though. Read more.

iPod Takes Japan by Storm

The Godzilla of digital-musical players far outsells rivals from local consumer-electronics giants like Sony. It seems iPod mania is alive and well in Japan -- one of the most competitive consumer-electronics markets on the planet. Despite an array of well-entrenched Japanese rivals, such as Sony and Matsushita, the iPod had cornered 51.3% of the digital-music player market as of the end of 2005, up from about 32% in 2004, according to research firm BCN. Sony was a distant second with 16.2%, while Panasonic grabbed just 8.2% of the market. Read more here.

UK Goverment Confiscating Firefox CDs

It seems that the UK goverment has confiscated some firefox CDs that were being sold. They think that although it's free software it still can't be copied. How dumb is that. Read more here.

Google Page Creator

Google has introduced a new web hosting product called Google Page Creator. It shares the user database with gmail. Your page address would be http://gmailuser.googlepages.com. It has an AJAX-based editor for painfree web creation but you can also edit the html directly. You get 100MB of free space and unlimited bandwidth. You can upload all sorts of files, including pictures, videos and even executable files! Also I didn't see any file size limits but I only tested with a 2MB file. And the service is ad-free! And the most interesting thing I saw was that you could host adult content by checking an option under site settings. Try it out!

Razorback2 taken down

Razorback2 - the worlds largest eDonkey2000 indexing server has been raided and taken down. The eDonkey2000 population shrunk from 3.5 million users to 3 million users. Ofcourse people will start using new indexing servers, but still it's a rather big hit to p2p.

Google AdSense

So I setup AdSense for some context-based text ads. I managed to make the colors exactly as the page itself so it fits in very nicely. Hopefully I'll be able to make some money with them. Extra money never hurts you know. If you want to get them on your page too then there's a big blue link on the right sidebar.

Samsung sued

It seems that film studios are making a turn in their strategy to fight piracy. It turns out that they're suing Samsung and blaming them for all the piracy problems in the world. At least they're not blaming single p2p users for everything now.

Silent Hill Trailer

So I was watching the Silent Hill trailer again. And I have to say it looks very true to the game. I can't wait to see it. I think I'll go play some Silent Hill 3 right now.

2006 Guild Wars World Champion

So the 2006 Guild Wars World Championship was won by EvIL. You can read about the match here. The complete prize money fund was $100,000. I wonder how much of this did EvIL get.

mIRC 6.17 released

Yes that's right. New mIRC has been released and this time it actually introduces some nice features. So what's new? Well for one proper UTF-8 support, wohoo! Also passive DCC and improved SSL. Now I only have to wait for a new FiSH version and then I can upgrade.

Ten Reasons to Buy Windows Vista

So I was reading a post by Michael Desmond where he describes 10 reasons why to buy the new almighty Vista.
Frankly I don't care about any of his points, perhaps excluding the security.
But I'll still be extreamly happy when people upgrade to Vista.
Why? Because it has .NET Framework 2.0 (or newer) installed.
I develop most of my software using the .NET Framework so that will make my life easier.

PlayStation 3 delayed until 2007?

Merrill Lynch thinks that the Sony PlayStation 3 release may be delayed until 2007. On top of that it's suggested that it will cost around $900.
The release date isn't even the biggest issue here. You can't get the already released XBox 360 from any store anyway.
They go on eBay for about the same $900.
When 2007 comes and the XBox 360 goes for $300 (or less) and the PS3 for $900 - which one would you pick?
I myself would get three XBoxes before that one PlayStation. Better yet, I'll save that extra $600 to ultimately buy a high definition plasma TV!
Games will never look the same again.
